Worrying about the care and well-being of your cat or dog is the last thing anyone wants to deal with when on vacation or traveling out of Birmingham. Valleydale Animal Clinic’s boarding facility and expert staff relieve those worries completely, so you can relax and focus on your trip. Each dog or cat will receive individual, expert care from our trained and gentle staff.
Our boarding facility includes large fenced-in yards for dogs to play, sunshades and outdoor pools. We strive to provide the ultimate dog and cat boarding experience for your pets in the Birmingham/ Hoover area at a cost economical to you.
Valleydale Animal Clinic offers spacious indoor runs (no cages) for dogs based on each dog’s size and breed. Your dog will receive 3 leashed walks and/or outdoor playtimes in our large fenced-in yards with outdoor pools and sunshades daily. Pets are provided with comfortable bedding, toys and of course plenty of TLC!
The cat area is a “feline only” zone in order to reduce stress for our feline guests. Each cat is in individual cages with a cozy round bed for sleeping or hiding. Our attentive staff provides personalized attention - let us know what your cat prefers!
Senior Pets and Pets Needing Special Care
Finding safe and appropriate boarding for a senior or special needs pet is especially difficult. Our veterinarians oversee all boarding and are always on hand for pets that require expert medical care. If your pet requires regular medication, our trained staff will make sure that it is administered correctly while you are gone. Special arrangements can be made to keep senior or special needs pets comfortable and happy while boarding at our facility.
Boarding your pets can cause anxiety when they are in a new place with unfamiliar sights, sound and smells. Valleydale Animal Clinic has products such as Zylkene, Feliway or Adaptil that can help during these and other stressful situations (such as storms, fireworks or visitors to your home). Valleydale Animal Clinic can administer Zylkene, Feliway or Adaptil to your pets while they board with us for a small fee (varies based on product, size and breed).
Vaccines and Parasites
All pets at our boarding facility are expected to be up to date on vaccines (including Bordetella “kennel cough”) and free of fleas and ticks. We have safe, effective products for flea & tick prevention available to protect your pets.

If your pet has been a daycare guest with us before, you do not have to call and schedule a daycare appointment.
Our calendar lets you know when our daycare program is available.
You will be able to skip check-in and check-out if your pet is only doing doggie daycare (this does not apply if your pet is receiving any other veterinary or grooming service other than daycare).
We will need a credit card on file, so that we can run daycare charges each Friday (only daycare charges will be charged).
A Daycare Release Form must be on file for each pet doing doggie daycare.
Each day for doggie daycare drop-off and pick-up, all you have to do is walk in and push the doorbell located directly by the kennel door. A Kennel Technician will retrieve and return your daycare pup.
Grooming & Bathing
Your pets can enjoy a spa bath treatment while staying with us as well:
Medicated shampoo and flea baths available for additional charges.
We happily offer a discounted bath ($24) after 5 consecutive boarding nights and a FREE bath after a 10-day stay.
If you have not yet seen our boarding facility, stop by for a tour. Check out some pictures on our Facebook page too!
We sell out our pet boarding facility for holidays and busy summer weekends so do not delay in making your reservations - call us at 205-236-1800 today.
Why Should You Board Your Pets at an Animal Hospital?
All medications given to your pets are supervised by our trained veterinary hospital staff.
If an emergency ever does happen or a pet needs immediate medical care, our veterinarians and medical team are onsite for a quick response.
If your pet needs to update vaccinations before boarding, those can be done the day they arrive.
Your pet can also have a veterinary exam or other medical services needed performed during their stay.
Save time when you arrive for your boarding reservation - complete a Boarding Release Form or Daycare Release Form prior to arriving.
